Villa Amalia provides the perfect setting for friends and families who want to spend quality time together.. the options are endless.
To enhance the stay, the villa has the option of a local cook who happily prepares three daily meals of tasty traditional Greek cuisine.
The village of Sparto is perched high above the Ambracian Gulf. Approached down a winding country road through olive groves, you are greeted by a high stone wall with a large iron gate flanked by two immense stone urns containing pomegranate trees. Pass through the gates and you enter a landscape that has not changed in centuries.
The private driveway down to the villa is lined with oleanders and lavenders which form a border around the olive groves. From the large gravel parking area next to the house you get your first glimpse of the sea and the stunning villa.
A walkway, covered with an arbour of lemon trees brings you into a courtyard planted with fragrant lavender. A fountain in the centre emerges from an old terra cotta amphora making the entrance a masterpiece.
Beyond the courtyard is the outdoor kitchen and dining area which features a six-and-a-half-metre-long bar made from one solid piece of eucalyptus wood, a grill, gas range, sink, fully stocked drinks refrigerator, coffee machine, and a traditional wood-burning oven. The massive wooden dining table seats sixteen, all under a bamboo pergola.
Beyond the dining area is an outdoor sitting room with four teak wood settees that overlook the infinity pool. Nestled past the sitting room is an enclosed area that has a mini-spa with an oval stone tub and outdoor shower. Three bamboo bedrooms are located behind the seating area. These rooms are more basic but perfect for teen-age guests who want their own space. They each have a stand-alone fan and share the outdoor shower which is great in the hot summer together with the W.C. and wash basin.
The entrance to the house is furnished with a rustic console table and an imposing twisted wood-framed mirror. To the left is the kitchen which has been tastefully designed with pale grey cabinets and granite countertops and features a center island, gas range and oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, and ice maker.
The living room has linen-covered sofas, and rough-hewn coffee tables, plus a fireplace, sound system, and large-screen television. Through the sea view full-length French doors, there is a large covered terrace with wrap-around seating piled high with plump cushions. Through the living room is the dining room which seats eight and looks out on both the sea and the infinity pool. Both sides of the pool are lined with comfy sun loungers. For those who prefer their cocktails while immersed in the water, the shallow end of the pool features two swim-up teak tables and a wide built-in sofa.
Terra cotta tiles cover the floors throughout the villa and the property has natural air-conditioning?in the morning there is no wind making the sea perfect for water-skiing?by mid-afternoon, the wind begins to blow cooling the entire area.
Below the main villa area, a stone pathway leads down to the outdoor cinema which is shaded by mature olive trees. Guests can enjoy just chilling out on comfortable bean bags whilst watching a film to complete yet another magical day.
Next to the sea, a petanque court provides hours of entertainment, and if playing is not your thing, next to the court is a large sun decking area with loungers that provide the perfect area to watch the play, relax, chat, and enjoy pre-dinner drinks. A small refrigerator is located close by to keep the chilled beer and wine flowing. On the west side of the estate, there is a table tennis table where the families can enter into a daily competition amongst themselves,
A small gate guarded by the statue of an Indonesian goddess (which doubles as a shower) opens to reveal the private pier with boat mooring and diving rock for a swim in the sea. 2 canoes and a paddleboard are available free of charge to enable clients to enjoy themselves around the bay together with 3 bicycles which are perfect to adventure out and explore the areas surrounding the villa.
Further along through the olive trees, there is a large covered swing/bed that provides the perfect spot for peace away from the villa to gather your thoughts, read a book, or simply listen to the sound of the sea.
For guests who want some relaxation and pampering, we have created a beautiful wooden massage hut where you can enjoy a massage from a fully qualified masseur which will be certain to leave you feeling refreshed. Combined with the massage hut there is yoga decking directly above the seafront making it ideal for a peaceful yoga retreat or just a simple morning meditation.
A vegetable garden of 1,000 square meters supplies the estate with vegetables and herbs, while pomegranate, lemon, and fig trees are planted throughout the property and are used for cooking. The 500 mature olive trees produce 10 tons of olives every two years which are processed into extra virgin olive oil. The estate also hosts a family of chickens that provide free-range eggs every day and gives young and old guests alike much happiness to take a basket and collect the daily lay. Underbrush is ?mowed? by a family of deer which graze under the supervision of the caretaker.
The daily maid will always be on hand to keep the areas clean and tidy, leaving guests to just enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
Food, ingredients & drinks are not included in the price and are paid for separately during your stay.
The masseur is extra and payable directly.
